Diss

In 2006 Diss became a Cittaslow town and has actively embraced the aims of the movement to preserve and enhance the traditional way of life and the unique character of a thriving market town.

Every Friday a traditional market is held in the town with a great diversity of wares for sale in the Market Place and on Market Hill. Whilst on the 2nd Saturday of every month the Diss Farmer's Market takes place on the Market Place from 9am to 1pm. This is the place to buy locally produced food direct from the producers.

The history of the lovely market town of Diss can be traced back to the Domesday Book. The town lies in the beautiful Waveney Valley and is home to the Mere, one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country. An eclectic selection of medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings grace the quaint town centre. Diss has a number of thriving shopping streets and interesting yards with individual shops and high quality cafes and restaurants.
